I'm joining what seems like the majority of my FList, and getting a cold. This afternoon, it has progressed from a slight snuffle to feeling like death warmed up.

I was meant to be going to London on Tuesday for a paper (and to receive my award, yay!), and again on Wednesday for a seminar; but even if I go to work, I won't be going any further.

Hugs, lemsip &c all welcome.

*hugs* Oh dear, not again! :-( You sound like you could do with a bottle of echinacea.

Thank you :-) Echinacea already laid in, and being taken ...

Darn colds. If it's anything like mine, take comfort in the fact that whilst annoying, it passed quickly.

Get well soon!

Grab some zinc lozenges and echinacea to boost your immune system.

IMO unless you are genuinely dying, go & get your award as you have been looking forward to it and it will make you feel good. And if you feel like crap on Weds go to work late or come home early or just stay in bed. Get LOADS of sleep all the other nights though. Wrap up warm around your chest/neck when you go out into the cold air, this was one of my mistakes last week.

And all the other things everyone else has said. I think garlic is meant to help too?

Get well soon.

Garlic check. I have had today off - I just hope someone from the working party managed to go and collect the award!

Darned LJ ate my posting of yesterday, which said something like this:

"Congratulations on winning "that-award-what-you-won". Arise sir wellinghall, knight of the pheasant."

Impact not the same today.

Grrr.

What a shame you couldn't go to get your award. Still, you won it after all, and probably sensible not to make your cold worse by trying to do too much. Hope you are better soon - and please don't take Lemsip; awful stuff! Whisky and honey much better: kills the bugs and makes you feel better at the same time! Real lemon or orange juice with honey and hot water also good.

I actually quite like Lemsip - but I seem to be in a minority of one!

I wouldn't say I exactly like it, but I do drink it (or at least an own brand one), esp since the variety I have got is max strength with decongestant as well as the paracetomol.

I alternate it with my whisky etc though ;)

Mmm, whisky - the only problem is that the stuff I've got in at the moment is too good to be wasted on a cold, but I'm sure I can have a rummage through the drinks cupboards and find something else ;-)

Know what you mean...but I sent bek. out for some Sainbury's ordinary blended stuff for that purpose; it wasn't too bad considering, I can happily finish up what's left now I can taste it again (not so with the black & white labelled Tesco one I used for my last cold, although it killed the cold).

We don't keep whisky in the house (or other spirits, with good reason), we just have it as a special treat sometimes.

Someone remind me, whisky v whiskey, one spelling is Irish the other Scottish, I can never remember which (which would have been considered shameful, until some Irish heritage as well as Scottish was confirmed quite recently).

Whisky is Scotch, Whiskey is Irish.

How are you feeling now?
