I read this a bit back, and then all the comments seemed to be either 'didn't get past Bombadil' (but no judgement on writer or reader on this fact), or 'I quite enjoyed it' (with judgement that there are better books out there, but LotR is something which many people enjoy, so don't diss it, 'kay?).

What leaves a particularly bad taste in my mouth about this is that it is encitement to hatred. There is a very, very, very, very (n) wide gap between - say - inctement to hatred of marmite, and incitement to hatred of a person the basis of their faith, sexuality, or similar facet. (Tolkien being only 'this much' away from marmite). But it's a continuum. There's enough hatred in this world, without incitement. Even of hatred of savoury snacks.
