My father, a keen sport follower (unlike myself) recognised them, so I know who they are now...

I thought it was most unlike you to tick "Yes" to a sports-based question!

Did Louise used to be in a girl band?
(betrays shallow pop music-loving tendencies)

She did, although for the life of me I can't remember which one!

Was she Louise Nurdling?

That's the one.

They used to live in Toxteth, not far from where I used to work when I was at JOLF Liverpool.

Nurding. Although I like the term/name Nurdling that you just invented.

I've heard the names (probably on 5!Live), but had no idea who they were, nor any reason to care. I watch little Channel 4, even less ITV, and I haven't seen this ad on Dave or the various Channel 5 stations - though I take almost no notice of ads except to note when, "I'm never going to buy that because of their advertising."

Jamie Redknapp is far more recognisable to most people I would have thought than Iggy Pop (Swiftcover Car Insurance). He was never a megastar and he hasn't had a hit since - well must be the 70s.

I am ashamed to admit that my ultimate employer owns Swiftcover.

Oh, maybe I've just taken out insurance with you! I got a quote from one company which I _think_ was swiftcover (it was one of few that was willing to do cancellation insurance at the British Empire Sunset and Worldcon level), and were offering a reasonable price for a crock like me, too.

Not quite as reasonable a price as Virgin, who were offering the same product for 10% less.

Which, when the documents came through, showed I was insured by swifcover (or whomever).

I do hope your shame is limited to their advertising!

Oh, definitely!

Oh! That's who Mr Swifcover is! I've been racking my braincell!

Given how few people on this poll seem to know who Jamie & Louise are, that may not be certain.

I might have recognised them if I had seen them - though they don't make the gossip rags often enough for me to be sure. (I should point out that I don't read the things, but when you are selling several dozen a day it's difficult to miss who makes the front covers.)

Jamie is a pundit on Sky Sports - and he's actually one of the better ones. Good at tactical analysis and he's one of the more eloquent former footballers. He was never quite that good as a footballer. He had his moments, but he'll mostly be remembered for being part of the underachieving Liverpool side of the 1990s that earned the nickname "Spice Boys" for being better at looking pretty than playing football.

His father is Spurs manager Harry Redknapp, and he is the cousin of Chelsea and England star Frank Lampard.

Bother! It must have been Harry Redknap I was thinking of when I said I thought I'd heard the name on 5!Live.

I must confess: I recognised her and therefore assumed it must be him, but the last time I watched a game of football was in the early 1970s, when Denis Law was playing for Manchester United...

Could not recognise them as hadn't seen the item TO recognise them in, but I know who she is. And she was judging SYTYCD on BBC1 until (and including) last night. I wouldn't recognise her husband on his own though.

Argh, I had nearly finished typing up a whole comment, when Fro bounced a giraffe on the keyboard and erased it :-( To recreate:

Having finally made it to this entry I see that I have already answered the poll! I assume Skordh did it while logged in as me accidentally. As I have watched no television other than the blessedly advert-free CBeebies since Christmas Day, I haven't seen the ad either, but as it happens I do know who Jamie and Louise Redknapp are, due a guilty penchant (exercised more in a past existance of more copious free time) for what I believe are known as 'Women's Lifestyle Magazines' ;-)
