"The Bodleian Library is taking part in World Book Day 2010 by exhibiting a selection of JRR Tolkien’s original artwork which was used to illustrate The Hobbit. A unique manuscript of Hobbit doodles and a rare first edition of the book will also be on display. The free-of-charge one-day display will take place in the Divinity School of the Bodleian Library on Thursday, 4 March 2010."

Could we get them to do it for Tolkien Reading Day?

Nice idea! I guess that it's too late for this year, but maybe we should ask them nice and early for next year.

Might be worth the long shot, though? They may not want to repeat the same World Book Day event next year in case the kiddies get bored.

We could try! (If we wait for me to ask them, though, it's not going to happen this year ... or next year ... maybe for the bicentenary, though! And now, on with the AoCiCR)

Oh one day isn't long enough at all. I feel sure something like this should run for a month at least.

I agree. I can't really see the downside to them of displaying it for longer - they could keep it in a reasonably dark room, and presumably they have adequate security.
