Cut because it's a moan
I went to see the doctor this morning, because my cold isn't shifting. He agreed with my diagnosis of a sinus infection, and prescribed me some Amoxicillin (with a note in the box saying that this is the new name for Amoxycillin - why bother???) I hope this does the trick - I used to have some terribly long-lasting sinus infections in the old days (basically before my op).
I really don't want to put people off coming to the moot - I am basically okay, and shouldn't be contagious - although if you're worried, let me know.
On a different note, the Big Boss (ie the Chief Executive, who is also my boss's boss) is coming to talk to us tomorrow, about the Developments. I hope to get some certainty out of this - work has been, well, uncertain for over two years now, ever since we were told that we were being put up for sale.
Last weekend, a very close friend of my parents died, of multiple cancers. It was a merciful release - she had been increasingly ill for many months - but it's still not good news. Her partner seems to be bearing up very well, which is something. And my grandmother has been having some worrying symptoms. Tests so far have been negative, but not wholly conclusive, and arrangements for further tests are being delayed by longer than she would like.
ETA: Oh yes, and one of the companies we outsource most of our work to are being awkward - there are three separate people I need significant chunks of information from, and I can't make up my mind whether this is three separate cases of incompetence, or something more sinister.
I suppose I should count my blessings - we've got good friends coming this weekend; I'm reading a Lois McMaster Bujold; and I do believe I hear a chicken pilaff in the final throes of preparation.
(Later: The dinner was indeed good, but it needs a certain something to follow it; like whisky ... )
