Well on Friday [livejournal.com profile] bouncy_elf turned up nice and early, and we had some lunch. She was followed later by [livejournal.com profile] didiusjulianus, who had been delayed by an unfortunate incident on the East Coast Main Line. Then dinner, and then [livejournal.com profile] tj_pantera / [livejournal.com profile] progelatinous turned up and had has dinner, which we had kept warm for him.

[livejournal.com profile] bekbulatovich had very kindly recorded Four Weddings and a Funeral for us, and we watched that, as I hadn't seen it before. Then bed for me and Creatrix, while the other three stayed up until all hours of the morning; I would say, "Ah, what it is to be young", but I couldn't do that even when I was their age.

The next day, MastermindChampion arrived, as did [livejournal.com profile] ladyofastolat and [livejournal.com profile] king_pellinor. We all had pumpkin soup risotto for lunch. Then [livejournal.com profile] beckyc turned up, and we trooped off to the Methodist book sale, and boosted their coffers quite considerably. Late arrivals were [livejournal.com profile] rustica, who arrived mere seconds after we had wondered where she was; very closely followed by [livejournal.com profile] skordh, [livejournal.com profile] jane_somebody and [livejournal.com profile] prince_eldarion, who were all the more welcome because they had warned us the day before that they might not be able to make it. There was a momentous game of Risk, and much game casserole, pigeons in cider, braised cabbage, baked beans, and baked potatoes; followed by Passage of the dead marshes jelly.

This morning we got up, breakfasted &c, then [livejournal.com profile] didiusjulianus had to go to get her train. [livejournal.com profile] megamole and [livejournal.com profile] miss_next arrived, we had spinach and mushroom lasagne, and played LotR trivial pursuit.

[livejournal.com profile] the_marquis joined in by email, as he and [livejournal.com profile] na_lon were detained by in-laws. And unfortunately [livejournal.com profile] romancinger and Highlander were prevented from coming by illness, as were TeddyFancier and CuddlyTiger. Several others were suffering from work, theses or lack of cash. We hope that some or all of these afflictions will be cured by the time of the next moot / SocT banquet.

We really enjoyed having everyone here, but I think that a special mention has to go to [livejournal.com profile] rustica, who had gone to the trouble of choosing some wine to go with game, even though she doesn't eat it herself!

What else? We looked at lots of photos of SocT and TS events from 1994, which caused much hilarity; apart from many of those mentioned above, Saxon, Salesman, [livejournal.com profile] amalion, [livejournal.com profile] sigisgrim and a rather naughty Tigger featured heavily. Photos of our wedding (1996) were also in evidence.

[livejournal.com profile] didiusjulianus / [livejournal.com profile] rustica, you left some careers stuff here; do either of you want it? And [livejournal.com profile] ladofastolat, please don't bother to return the Malcolm Saville; if you don't want to keep it, it can go to a charity shop.

We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!

Ack! Did I leave something?! I *thought* I'd got everything! What did you find, exactly? If it looks physics-y, then yes I do want it... Otherwise, it might be mine or it might belong to DJ.

It was our pleasure; as is LJ-ing, at least in comparison to ironing ... ;-)

Ironing is largely unnecessary with 21st century fabrics...therefore it's a personal choice and I have no sympathy.

Thank you very much for having us - and for cooking such lovely food! It was great to see you both again after so long, and to see so many other people, many of them for the first time. We really must venture to The Mainland again some time...

It was our pleasure! The lovely food was Creatrix'; the less lovely was probably mine ;-)

It was lovely to see you all, old friends and new alike. beckyc and rustica, somehow I didn't seem to make/have the opportunity to talk to you much. Hope this can be rectified sooner rather than later.

Completely agree re the game-wine. It was lovely (both the wine, and the game itself).

LJ is brilliant - the next best thing to being there! (Reminds me of the old Mundo 'zine, which had accounts of all the moots. Plus ca change... )
