RIP: UK Mac columnist Tony Tyler
Nov. 1st, 2006 06:43 pmThe UK Mac world is one man smaller today, with the death of Tony Tyler, a long-time contributor to both Macworld and Mac User magazines.
Tyler, full name James Edward Anthony Tyler, was born in Bristol in October 1943, was married twice, and died in Hastings, East Sussex on Saturday, 28 October 2006. He wrote The Tolkien Companion.

EDIT: The Tolkien Companion was the first book about Tolkien I came across, at age 11; before I had read anything but The Hobbit.
