I have voted. I took [livejournal.com profile] adaese to the station this morning, then drove back to the polling station, then onto work.

This is by no means my earliest vote. One year - it was probably 1992 - I was queueing outside the polling station when it opened at 7am. We were shown that the ballot boxes were empty before they were sealed.

There were eight candidates in our constituency, which is a new one, and which is thought to be a three-way marginal. The last candidate on the list was "Vote zero none of the above".

I refer you to today's Matt cartoon:

And, for that matter, to today's Alex cartoon:

Please vote!

The Matt cartoon is frighteningly similar to me in 2005. I stood in the polling booth for ten minutes, having left going to vote until 9.30pm. It is the only time I have really been undecided, and the only time I haven't supported 'my' party...

Philmophlegm reckons I should be banned from voting after hearing my debate about who to go for : I think the term used was 'alarmingly muddleheaded':-D

Hey ho. It's true, my thinking IS muddleheaded, but I am pretty sure I won't be alone in that.
