786. The good thing about LibraryThing is that it does allow one to be precise. I fairly sure it's accurate, too - given that ExMemSec is cataloguer-in-chief.

Given that he really only wrote two books, some of these numbers are incredibly high! (I'm not counting stuff he didn't intend to be published, any 'Book of Used Toilet Paper volume 33' type stuff or in fact most of the stuff that would never have got published, let alone stayed in print if it wasn't for the name on the cover...)

I think your is count a tad short as Wellybabes included "books about" and also certain other books were meant to be published, eg Farmer Giles, Smith of Wooton Major, Poems & Stories plus certain academic works, and there are a few bits of the waste-paper basket (as Langford put it) notes that were actually meant to be written and published as a coherent whole - he just ran out of life.
