ditto, and mine was second hand then. No idea how old it actually is. I don't hold with all this chucking stuff out to buy a new shinier one.

Not only is yours second-hand, but the person who got it first hand didn't pay for it either!

I've only just got the new one, but the old one was just over five years old when it died... which I think is a bit young. :-(

Mine was a hand-me-down from Malaheed when he changed jobs and got a new one for work; it was newish at the time and still going strong (because I am positive that the only problem I have with the audio cutting out in strong background noise is T-Mobile being naughty about two-way bandwidth and not the phone's fault).

I have husband's old Blackberry - it was from when Blackberrys first came out, so must be a good few years old, I'm approximating 4 years old, but probably even more

My four-year-old is a late version of the first model, swapped for a not-quite-early version of the first model when my employer changed suppliers. I think I had the first one for 2 or 3 years, and those who worked in County Hall had them for a year or more before we lowly frontliner drive all over the county types, so I would say they were 'new' more like six or seven years ago.

Mine is less than a month old. My previous one stayed behind in Xi'an. I think it fell out of my rucksack in a taxi.

3 and a half years, replacing one I'd had for six.

The really scary thing is that the easiest way to find that out was to search my journal for the post I remembered making when I bought it. :-)

I'm only going to replace mine when it breaks irrepairably (or so often that it becomes too much of a nuisance . too expenseive to repair it).

Mine is 8 years old! I've replaced the battery a few times, but it still does what I want it to do - i.e. it makes calls and writes messages - none of the fancy camera-cum-Internet stuff, but I have a camera and a computer for that. ;)

Not only is it eight, but it has also recently survived being dropped into water!

For the record I took out the battery immediately, shook out all the water I could, took it apart as much as I could, dried it off with a baby wipe and then allowed it to dry for a couple of days. The key was taking the battery out immediately though.

Not too sure, at least 2 years, and it was a new one of an old model. There are 6 useable phones in our household at the moment, ranging from vintage (6 yrs old +, possibly one might even be 10) to very snazzy and new.
