The given mean is 5.2, but it actually works out to more like 5.8 if you factor in all the "10+" responses ...

In fact the phone turns out to be very slightly less than ten years old, but will be ten before the end of the year, so I'll leave the poll as it is. (In my defence, I've had it for around eight years and was given it for free second-hand so assumed that it was distinctly not-new at the time.)

Also, how much does it change the mean number of computers if you replace the "ten"s with appropriate higher numbers where you have them?

Some of the people who answered "10" don't give exact numbers. However, making assumptions for this, and the mean goes up from 5.2 to about 5.8.

I think I came to 15 in the end, including the two Psions. But I really ought to get rid of, um, about ten of those. And I've not actually used the Psion for ages, either....
