Of all the places I went to in last year's grand tour of Scotland, North Uist was the most beautiful.

It's also a lot easier to get to than most people think.

You might find Scilly a bit hot by late May, compared with the others in the list. If you go, I'd be tempted to go early April to see the daffodils...

I keep meaning to go back to the Scillies, haven't been there in years. I've been flirting with the idea of flying out with the hounds by helicopter from Penzance rather than taking the ferry.
