Best guess. I have counted the bottle opener on the end of the tin opener, and two corkscrews on penknives. All a bit moot, these days, as we mostly drink in the pub, and most of the wine that comes into the house has a screw cap.

Both fairly wild guesses that I wonder now if they are underestimates. But definitely enough that there are 'some' in more than one location...

I think we went through a phase of thinking 'we don't have a corkscrew/bottle opener, must buy one' several times, and also, people keep leaving them in our house!

My first corkscrew (which I still have somewhere) was attached to my first ever pen knife, which memory insists was a seventh birthday present, though I wonder now if it was actually 8th or 9th...

I am pretty sure that this is because philmophlegm has less cause to use bottleopeners and corkscrews in daily life than me.

Though it may also explain why we have a number of them, because philmophlegm has at least twice thought: 'Do we have a corkscrew...? Not sure.... Hmm, I'd better get one!'

I know I have one corkscrew somewhere. I'm just not sure where it is at the moment. The number of bottle openers is a guess, because I have several devices which can open bottles due to my disability. I can't open most bottles by hand.

We have one corkscrew/bottle opener in a penknife, one corkscrew/bottle opener in the kitchen drawer, and one large fancy corkscrew contraption that gives Chris man-joy. ;)

As inamac is the same household, I haven't answered this. What do you lot who have only one wine bottle opener do when, as invariable happens, the one you are using finally snaps when you have visitors and the shops are shut?

All the corkscrews are also bottle openers. One lives permanently in my handbag - and is mainly used as a penknife.

Pellinor may well answer differently; he has a secret domain in the loft that I do not dare enter, which is packed full of everything one might ever need to run a bar for 200 thirsty live roleplayers. There could well be a towering mountain of corkscrews up there, but all I could find downstairs was 2. Well, actually, I could only find 1, but I know we have at least 2, as well as a singing bottle opener.

Conservative estimates used, I really can't remember what's upstairs, and can't be bothered to check the inventory. But i have counted the openers on corkscrews, tin openers, etc.

There are also some in the cars, but I've not counted those.

I think most if not all of the Summerfest ones are in my attic rather than yours :-) Most of them were ours that we were trying to offload anyway :-D

I haven't voted as you only go up to 10. I don't know how many corkscrews we have, too many to count and they're scattered all over the place. Bacchus likes to have one within reach wherever he might be in the house. At an estimate, half a supermarket carrier bags worth or so. We've given away loads too, we tend to leave them in people's houses when we visit & Bacchus has lost more than a few going through customs & getting them confiscated because he's forgotten he's got them on him. Most of them have bottle openers on them, but we also have at least 10 dedicated bottle openers too.

We hardly ever drink anything that needs to be opened with a corkscrew.

This is a guess, i am feeding fro at the moment but to be fair would prob not be bothered to go downstairs and check anyway ;-) I'm sure of 1 corckscrew/bottle-opener, 1 tin-opener with bottle opener bit, pretty sure there is a rudimentary corkscrew that belongs with the picnic hamper, i think there is another bottle opener in the cutlery drawer and one on a big penknife. hmmn, thinking about it, big penknife may well have a corkscrew too? Also, not tried to count but I'm sure there are 'several'(anywhere from a couple to half-dozen or more?) small/cheap penknife things round the house most of which are likely to have a bottle-opener attachment, no idea how effective; i know skordh lost the one that was on his keyring when he forgot it was there while going through airport security...
