[Poll #1709972]
For the avoidance of doubt, that means "neck ties" (including bow ties).

Approximate answers are fine; I'd rather have a reasonable guess, than no answer at all.

No regular ties, but I still have a length of Shepherd & Woodwards black velvet ribbon, sub fusc, for use with.

What is a fusc, that your ribbon subs to it?

Oxford Uni strict-dress-code for use in important ceremonies such as matriculation or graduation, and in exams. Mostly black clothes, with white bow tie for men or a black velvet ribbon tied in a bow round the neck, under academic gowns as appropriate.

I have a rather over-full tie-rack (I've just guessed at numbers, but it looks like a lot), and I think some still stashed at my parents'. I don't wear very many of them, though...

I think you might be at the stage where still stashing things at the parentals should be stopped? ;)

This is a rough guess. Every year I go through my wardrobe and get rid of stuff that I don't really wear (including ties).

I own exactly three neckties, one of which is my LSE tie. (The others are black silk and grey poly-silk.) I keep them for wearing with my business suits, which I don perhaps a half-dozen times a year. Some people do a bit of a double-take to see a woman wearing a tie, but apparently I wear them well enough.

Gerald has over 50. And wears clerical collars most of the time.

I think I still have my school tie somewhere, but that still rounds down to zero.

One. Liberty. Not worn much but entertaining to do so on occasion.

Thanks for the clarification on 'ties'! Surprisingly for a girl, I have about 10. Only the Pony Club and school one were mine originally though. I kept a lot of my dad's and never had the heart to throw them out.

I have three old school ties, though none of them are in this house, and I think my brother(s) may have nicked one of them.

I am attempting to find a proper bow tie in the kind of shops I would normally go into; it is surprisingly difficult.

Actually it's four, I think - two school ties, and a bow tie and a black necktie that have been used for fancy dress purposes.

And a subfusc ribbon, of course, but I'm not sure if that counts.

I have none, my son has about 4 including a bow tie that he wore to his prom, & my partner has somewhere between 10 & 15 I think.

Are you including cravats? (I don't think we have any here but I just wondered). I personally would.

I ticked the 30 box, which is odd because I don't wear ties. However, I have a big box-full of nice silk ones scrounged from various relatives or bought in charity shops for doing patchwork. If the person who mentioned having their father's ties can sew, would the idea make a nice memento?

I also have, and occasionally wear, a couple of my grandfather's cravats, and several gauzy, ruffled objects that are cravat-like in structure but function somewhere between a decorative scarf and jewelry.

I have 3, I think, all rather colourful. I have very occasionally worn them in the past (for teaching generally) though not at all in recent years. I also have 2 (again, I think) pairs of cufflinks. And one shirt/collar stud, with pretty enamelling, that I gained from the Mathom Party but then un-mathomed by actually using it with one of my grandfather's old white shirts as sub fusc one day during Finals :-)
