Black Oystercatchers (http://www.google.com/search?q=black+oystercatchers&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=rKX&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=ivns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=oYqnTeThL8Hd0QGI6vThBA&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&biw=1067&bih=684) are confined to the west coast of this continent, apparently. I love them because you really, really can't miss that beak against the rocks!
