That 'Talking Trees' article makes me splutter :'but but but but'.

There's decoding, and then there is simplifying to the point where the central message becomes effectively "IT'S MAGIC!!!".

And citing the original article is useless when there is no link and I bet you have to have full access to an academic library to read the damn thing.

I am developing a deep loathing of unlinked citations on the web, they are effectively a way of saying "Believe me, peasant, for I am a Wizard of Unseen University!" when in fact the person doing the writing half the time is NOT the wizard in question but merely someone who has a pointy hat.
