Copied from the Compact OED:

graphic adjective

1. relating to visual art, especially involving drawing, engraving, or lettering.
2. giving vividly explicit detail.
3. of or in the form of a graph.

According to definition number 2, I see no reason why you cannot hear a graphic description.

Depends on the meaning of the word "graphic" at times. In the States, at least, grapic is often used to mean either prurient or gory.

I'd say a graphic description is one that is detailed and in depth which would in turn help the listener conjour up a clear and graphic mental image of the thing being described.
