I spotted that - though I'm not sure whether this was simply power of observation, all the reading I did about William Kent's use of the method at Kensington Palace when I was writing my thesis, or the number of times I've watched William Hartnell and co make their way around the Dalek city on the latter's first appearance in Doctor Who.
