I am very weary, and desperately trying to stay upright and awake. (Well, both for preference, but at a pinch just one of them would do).

The Secret Santa I organised at work happened this morning. I received a bottle of red Bordeaux, a Snoopy tie, and a firefighter's kit.

We are going to see The Hobbit tomorrow. I cannot help thinking that a trip to a cinema right next to a major shopping centre, on a Saturday in December, will turn out to be a mistake.

What are you doing this weekend? Have you got anything fun planned? Do tell!

Sitting for three hours in a darkened room watching a film widely criticised for being slow (fifty minutes on the scene where the dwarves arrive at Bag End!) might not help you stay awake...

Hmm, I have read that several times but I like that bit of the book and it's richly described. Can't help feeling that 2 films, not 3, for what I'll call Hobbit+, might have been better, or 3 shorter films, thinking of the age range of the target audience.

It is certainly slow, but the dwarves at Bag End only occupy about 25 of the first 50 minutes.

I share your tired and falling over feelings. Have a restful weekend.

I cannot see The Hobbit until next week, when I will go with my sister, so this weekend I shall be Christmas shopping and generally sorting things out at home. Not exciting, but necessary. Oh, and watching the finale of The Killing!

Going out for lunch with [livejournal.com profile] countertony's dad and stepmother tomorrow. On Sunday we have the day off choir, but he has been roped in to play the tuba in Sleigh Ride. No, I'm not sure either...

It might not be a mistake - I bought ExMemSec tickets to Happy Feet on Boxing Day in just such a V(en)ue a few years ago, and we were quite astonished to find we were virtually the only people in the place (no hot fat / unwashed people smells!). People may well be too busy buying stuff to watch the Hobbit.

This weekend: I am going for a job interview on Saturday, and on Sunday, we are decorating the Kitchen. And I am finishing writing a paper that had a deadline of today.

Belatedly, as much of Saturday is past, we have done lots of shopping and I have cleared a big chunk of one of flower beds and got in 65 bulbs. They have been held back this week by a very hard frost following our return from Berlin. Tomorrow I intend to get the rest in.

Resting, getting organised for the week ahead, and enjoying family time as there are 3 of us here together just now.

ETA: also studying (it's overdue) and making a few Christmas cards as I found some car-making pieces and need a few more.

Plans for the weekend? As I mentioned on Facebook: whisky! (I tried 5 tonight, bringing the running total up to 109*, have three miniatures on the shelf waiting for Christmas/my birthday and then there will be 17 or 27 left to complete my list, depending on how strict my criteria are.) Oh, before the bar, I managed to get the last of my cards and presents sent. Tomorrow will happen when it happens...

(*That's 109 distilleries/brands of single malt scotch, not counting separate expressions from the same distilleries/under the same names or other types of whisky/whiskey, just to be clear.)
