This one is from na_lon
I'll try to do these chronologically ...
1) Those nice people at the Inland Revenue, for sending me a tax refund - because the money will be handy (abebooks here I come!), and because it was a surprise.
2) The postman coming back later to deliver two parcels - because I had assumed that after 1), there would be no more post that day.
3) Finally getting round to going to the dry cleaners and the charity shop - because it frees up some of our spare bedroom and loft.
4) Duck pate for lunch - because it was so tasty.
5) The aforesaid dry cleaners rescuing my season ticket from my jacket pocket - now all I have to do is go in and collect it on Monday morning!
6) Listening to my new "Old Harry's Game" CD - because it's so funny, and because it was a bit of a nostalgia trip.
7) Suddenly feeling able to swim much further than I have done for weeks.
8) White wine before dinner, because it's just what I needed to relax after wrestling with a Portugese bus-ticket-booking website.
9) Braising steak for dinner - because I'm a confirmed carnivore.
10) Reading my new copy of "Engaging the Enemy", the third in the Vatta's War series by Elizabeth Moon (see 2) above) - because it's good SF, and still reminds me of Traveller.

Still awaiting mine from 1999.
2) The postman coming back later to deliver two parcels - because I had assumed that after 1), there would be no more post that day.
Was there anything interesting in them?
3) Finally getting round to going to the dry cleaners and the charity shop - because it frees up some of our spare bedroom and loft.
Now come and do mine, will you? (Nb. the whole garage needs charity shop/skip urgently).
4) Duck pate for lunch - because it was so tasty.
Have to agree.

Well done them, faith in human nature restored.
7) Suddenly feeling able to swim much further than I have done for weeks.
Well that is really good.
Didn't understand 6 & 10.

Date: 2006-04-02 02:54 pm (UTC)2) brought a couple of books
3) sure, just as soon I've done the promised tidying up at ladyofastolat's and king-pellinor's!
6) was a Radio comedy series of the mid / late 1990s, starring Andy Hamilton as Satan.
8) the d*mn website was quite happy to give me times of bus services, but when I wanted to book tickets, it insisted there were no services on those days!
10) is the third in a new series of military space opera SF - seems quite similar to an old SF role playing game called Traveller.
