I do not claim this as a great photo. But it does show four wild southern sea otters together. There are only about 2,800 in total.

We saw this four (and a fifth, separately) while on a walk led by a volunteer guide. Both times, the guide said sorry, no sea otters around, until adaese put him right.

They can be very difficult to spot, until you know just what you're looking for. And even then, kelp, human divers etc can cause false alarms.
