Pictures from Orkney, part three

Sanday had birds! Like these great northern divers (quality of photo excused by the fact that this was the first time either of us had seen them).



And this oystercatcher, with its day-glow beak.


These turnstones.


And this curlew.


It also had seals.


The Quoyness chambered cairn - from outside -


- and from inside.


A hand-knitted "Yes" banner.


And this arrangement (purpose unknown - probably ritual).


And finally, we had one night on South Ronaldsay, where we saw the recently-discovered Tomb of the Otters.



And that's the lot. (Although I do have more photos - please say if you want to see them!)

I have very much enjoyed seeing your photos, and visiting Orkney again through your travels. (It must be more than 20 years since I was there, and we only had one day.) Thank you for sharing them. :-)
