I need to buy some new shoes, but I have a problem - I use special insoles, and I find it difficult to find shoes that are deep enough to accommodate these. Any ideas as to shops or brands I might try?
It's not exactly the same problem, but I have wider than normal feet and Marks & Spencer do extra wide fitting shoes that work for me. Conceivably extra wide fitting shoes would also be deeper than usual.
I seem to remember New Balance being recommended to a friend who had orthotics. Also, some "normal" shoes have quite thick insoles which can be removed and may then be deep enough for your insoles -- have a look at Clarks shoes, for example. K shoes (often sold in Clarks) are usually better -shaped so maybe their shoes also have removable insoles? I like Ecco shoes, and their salespeople are usually helpful. There is a branch on the Promenade in Cheltenham. There is also a branch of Hotter shoes there, and again their shoes seem to be more sensibly shaped and so may also have removable insoles.

This is American, I think, but it does detail brands and some of them may be available in the UK. http://www.shoedigest.com/health/foot-orthotics/

Have you ever worn Hotter shoes (http://www.hotter.com/gb/en/mens?gclid=CNSNtKLnrr4CFe3JtAodNSUAEw)? Really comfortable and with extra wide fittings on most styles (and some deep ones).
I know someone who has found his Hush Puppies fine (and they look fine too). Depends on the orthotic though, his aren't particularly high profile, also depends on your instep height. But what brand were the LAST ones! ;)
Also agree about shoes with their own insoles, cos of course you don't want shoes WITH contouring if you will provide your own. Ditto Clarks and probably those other ideas.

I can't vouch for any; just Google results!
