here are the titles of my spam:

hangable whelk
French fungus
wooly request
pained mercenary
rebuttal lichen
Have dollar

They're a lot more interesting than the supposedly non-spam emails, which appear to be about things like HLA B27, special offers on antibodies, and the College's latest statement on MMC and MTAS.

However, if I open any of the filtered spam, it turns out to be not about hangable whelks at all but about some share that I ought to buy now before the price goes up.

Your spam is much more interesting than mine. I think Gmail manages to filter out all the fun ones. Currently in my spam folder:
Patrick, do you think I should surprise Carlo with this
UsFAQPress JolieLegal LLC Island
Fwd: Pharmacy bulletin
Herbal science
Sleep aids...AMBI

This is actually a marked improvement on my usual delivery of insinuations that the ladies are unsatisfied with the extent of my manhood (surely not...).

It really worries me that some people are stupid (or at least ignorant) enough to fall for that sort of thing.

Actually, you can find "13 Things That Do Not Make Sense" at the New Scientist website here (http://space.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=mg18524911.600). It's a fascinating article - it pops up on the "Most popular stories" a couple of times a year.

Since I stopped downloading from my TS address, I don't get any spam at all. (And this is despite having an email address on my website - but it's disguised.)

We get vast amounts, mostly to the hrothgar address - but then, I have been pretty profligate in its use on websites etc
