I've enjoyed reading [livejournal.com profile] adaese's words. What a great visit you had.

It's timely for me in fact. Today I met my tattooist to plan a design of ammonites, which led to a conversation about Lyme Regis with [livejournal.com profile] snailbones, which led to reminiscence about my walk from Lyme to the Thames passing several of the places [livejournal.com profile] adaese mentions. There's always something new to learn in the old places.

It was indeed a great trip - and your walk from Lyme to the Thames sounds interesting. How long did it take you?

2 years or more. Like all the long-distance paths I've walked, I did this one in stages to fit around other parts of my life. I carried a tent many times. In fact, I'm trying to remember whether I slept under a roof at all during my Ridgeway walk. It was a wonderful experience.

Here's one of the anecdotes. I'd put up my tent (that time on an actual campsite) after carrying it up an escarpment, and was admiring the leaves on a tree when a voice called, 'You used to dance with Rogue Morris didn't you?' Yes I did. There was a team of dancers on site who, in proper Morris tradition, invited me to walk half a mile to the pub with them. I had to decline because my feet said no.
