[Poll #955626]ETA: I'm surprised that half the respondents voted me as "RP" - but it's clearly how I come across! Another surprising thing was how few voted - but then I looked at my FList, and saw how few of you I know in real life.

Can we have a new option, reading "I haven't the faintest idea. I don't do accents." I really can't. I can't put on accents, but I'm also very very bad at recognising them when I hear them, too.

I'm odd - I can sometimes place them quite precisely, other times getting them horribly muddled. My attempts at doing them are varied - I blame all this on my very odd ENT system.

I cannot do accents to save my life. Even my own. (But I used to be able to do them in Italian.) I am reasonably good at a identifying some regional English accents, but not the ones you mention other than to say you are Probably Not Essex, and Not Birmingham, and if wryelle is from Lincolnshire, possibly not there either.

Can I have that one as well? I really have no idea about most accents apart from, well they sound like so and so, who comes from X, so maybe they do to.

I agree, but it's not *really* posh type of posh, in fact it's fairly unique (in terms of any other I have heard), with a mixture of half the list in there somewhere. *My* accent varies, quite naturally, depending who I am speaking with. In fact, the nearest I have heard is quite possibly North Eastern USA (or at least like a few people I have met from there). And a few other individuals whose names I now forget. But not many. wellinghall, I think we've done "your accent" before, though...
