... but now I've been to the doctor's, and I'm not.

This morning, I noticed a big (and I mean big) lump on my elbow. Not painful - in fact, I could hardly feel it - but definitely there. Now, lumps are worrying anyway; and particularly when you're someone like me, who worries about most things; and especially when you've got PJS, and are under standing orders to worry about any "lump, bump, mass or oddity".

I went to the handy walk-in centre, only to find that - less than three years after opening - they have cut down the opening hours from something like sixteen hours a day to four. Four!!!

Then I went to a pharmacist, who said, "Get it seen quickly, but not that quickly."

Then I rang my GP; the receptionists (yes, two - long story) were very helpful, and got me in at 5pm this afternoon. I saw a registrar (being videoed for training purposes), who asked me a few questions, took my temperature (normal), looked at it, and got me to bend my arm around.

She diagnosed bursitis - fluid on the elbow. I am to take ibuprofen, and go back to see her again if (a) it doesn't go down, or (b) it gets inflamed. She would then prescribe antibiotics and / or drain it.

Worry over (well mostly!)

Thank you!

How are things with you at the moment?

Thanks! :)

Things are crazy busy here at the moment for me, with classes in session, a book project almost completed, an out-of-state conference next week, and our house on the market in preparation for our move. I'm a bit nuts at the moment. :) How are you?

Just come out of the three months of hell that is the year end valuation, and looking forward to a visit from my parents this weekend.

I am glad it was nothing serious. All these bumps and moles and things can really make one paranoid, but you just can't be too careful.

PS I haven't forgotten your Beowulf!

And I haven't forgotten yours! I was cleaning my inbox just now and realised I never replied to your email about your book. I was sure I had - please don't think I am rude! I have only read about a half of it, but I am finding it very interesting. All this local history and legend is fascinating even without the parallels with the mainstream stories.

It is interesting, isn't it. We went on to read the "Grey Dolphin" legend, and then to see the tomb of the knight involved!

Sounds like great fun!
I enjoyed reading about the possible connection to the Russian legend of Prince Oleg, too. The Tree of tales is an amazing thing...

Ah, lumps and bumps - I have a tale to tell, but not here. I'm glad yours is not serious - I think bursitis is usually painful, so you're quite lucky :) Hope it gets sorted without trouble.

Still swollen, and slightly more tender than it was - but only slightly.
