Oban

We're now in Oban. We've had a huge room in a large Victorian house, right on the esplanade, overlooking the sea and the islands. We've been to Kilmartin Glen (cairns, standing stones, and the capital of Dalriada), Inverary* (a jail, a three-masted ship, and a castle) and Appin (a very fine view over a castle - the castle Aaaaargh from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail").

*Arthurians of old will know about Inverary.

Now we've got to go home! Drop the car at the garage, have tea, get on the train to Glasgow, then get on the night train to Munich - sorry, night train to London, I've clearly been listening to too much Al Stewart recently.

I will be catching up on my FList, and on emails, when I get home ... but fairly slowly!

I don't remember anything in particular about Inverary, but I do remember your other half being attacked by a cairn monster in Oban (Sir Dinadan, if I recall aright).

Motto of the day: don't shut an Arthurian in any enclosed space as havoc inevitably ensues.

We shut Sir Dinadan in a cairn in Oban, whereupon he allegedly turned into a cairn monster. I have a photograph of him grabbing Creatrix in suitably animated fashion, but sadly it's in storage with most of my non-essential belongings.

I've been to Oban, but all I can remember really is that there was a restaurant/cafe thing on the high street selling piggies in a blanket. *odd*
