Portugal: Evora

Hi folks
Well, we´re here in sunny Portugal. Well, actually it´s raining at the moment, but what the heck.
Evora is a MARVELLOUS town. We´re stopping in a C16 monastery, with a Roman temple *right* outside the front door, and the cathedral just round the back. The streets are all narrow, cobbled and Moor-ish; the remaining bits of Roman wall are underneath our bedroom; and the complete circuit of medieval walls is only a few hundred yards (sorry, I know that should be "metres", but I´m just old enough to think in yards) away.
Portugese food is good, in HUGE portions, if heavy on the pork. Also heavy on the custard pastries, mmm!
Today we went on a bus tour of the paeleolithic, neolithic and megalithic remains in the region - cave paintings, cromlech, menhir and dolmen. All great fun. Tomorrow we are planning to go to Elvas, which has a C17 star fort. Then on Saturday, we´ll be going to Lisbon for foradan´s wedding. the_marquis, if you´re reading this, I´ll be in lounge suit.
We forgot to set the video for anything, so Î hope mother-in-law is recording Timewatch for us tonight, and father-in-law is recording Dr Who for us on Saturday!
Oh, and I hate Portugese keyboards - everything is in the wrong place!
See some of you at the weekend!
