... is that I went to the hospital last Wednesday, for a consultation. He carried out a digital examination and a sigmoidoscopy, and said he could see nothing wrong except piles. However, given my medical history, there might be a polyp, and so he would arrange a colonoscopy for 10 July. So I've got (a) fasting and prep, (b) an IV, and (c) a big tube being stuck up my bottom to look forward to. Hugs, manly shoulder pats, chocolate etc all appreciated.

I am pleased I am going to have it done (well, sort of!); but it was a pointless appointment really, because I could have told him that I had piles and that I needed a colonoscopy. Thinking about it, I suppose he might have found something very wrong, and admitted me there and then.

It was only after I got home that I remembered that we are going to be away the weekend before that, so I will need to re-arrange the appointment.

Hope it goes well. That stuff they make you drink to clear out your intestines is pretty rough, isn't it? Anyway good luck with it!

*manly shoulder pats* the idea of hugging your Farmers is a bit too ickky even for me ;-) I assume they are a side-issue from the polyp thing, but I'm suprised he didn't suggest something for them to be going on with so as to make July's job easier.

Thanks, mate. Yes, they probably are a side issue; and yes, in retrospect, I'm surprised too, but not bothered enough to face *another* apointment.

Thanks :)

Wasn't too far from you recently. The weekend before last, we were stopping in Branston, with two trips to Grantham for shopping-and-relatives. Then last weekend, I was in Branston again, with a trip to Bottesford for fish and chips, and then Grantham to get the train to Doncaster (and then, a few hours later, a very brief stop in Grantham on the train from Doncaster to London!)

Thanks for the other books, they arrived yesterday, I haven't had a chance to look through them yet, but they look very interesting.

Thanks. Hope you enjoy the books. There's no hurry for getting them back to us (and, in some cases, no need to send them back at all).

Sympathy - how horrible. Sounds like that was a very stressful day in itself, notwithstanding (a) (b) and (c) to come. (I am not quite sure what notwithstanding means, but the conveyancers used it a lot when we bought our house, and I was most impressed and have always wanted to take the word out for a test-drive).

Hugs etc notwithstanding.
