I like Loganair
Jun. 21st, 2006 06:53 pmI rang Loganair yesterday to book some flights around Orkney. They first pleased me by telling me that the check-in time at Kirkwall is 20 minutes, and at the other two airports (North Ronaldsay and Papa Westray) it's 12 minutes. (Actually, I know from past experience that most locals don't bother turning up that far in advance).
They then impressed me by trying to work out (with no prompting from me) what the cheapest way of doing my complicated three-legged journey was.
And then they shocked me by saying, in response to my "And would you like my credit card?", "No, you can pay on the day"!!!

Date: 2006-06-22 05:50 pm (UTC)Doesn't really work at Kirkwall, because there is one very small shop where you can buy postcards etc, run by the same lady who serves tea & coffee. Nor at Papa Westray, where there's no shop, just one small waiting room like a bus-stop.

Two of our accommodation providers are meeting us from the plane (which admittedly is only a mile or so away, but it's still nice), and neither of these want credit card details, a deposit, or written confirmation (although we did arrange them both by email). One of the hotels is quite happy to receive us at 11.30 pm when the ferry gets in - again, they're no doubt used to it, but it's still nice.
