Bottom of my Christmas card list at the moment are:
- our investment managers
- our admin company
- head office
- staff at my credit card provider.

They vie with one another for inefficiency, uselessness and incompetence.

Creatrix has supplied me with tea and whisky. This is good. Still feel incredibly tense, though.

ETA:
- eBay sellers who mis-describe things
- eBayers who don't leave feedback!

"Don't sweat the small stuff."

"It's all small stuff."

Especially work.

I recommend pizza. (I am about to eat pizza; these two things are probably related).

Feel free to wibble into my mailbox.

Hmm, pizza ... only good for me if it's without tomato, I'm afraid. But thanks for the thought!

This comment is illogical, since I did not say anything about what TYPE of pizza it was (and you know that I know that you don't eat tomato). So my recommendation stands.

(Mine was cheese, tomato, yellow pepper and onion - yours could quite happily be one of those garlic, herb & 4-cheese ones, for example).

Sometimes I don't think you see the bigger picture. (And not just over pizza) ;)

One of the best student jobs I ever took was in a pizza factory.

For you, I would take a base, and spread with aubergine pesto. Then sliced mushrooms (kinds depending on what was on offer in the shops), sliced mozerella, and a grating of peccorino and a grinding of black pepper and maybe chilli (just a very, very, little), and serve with a generous handful of rucola, and a nice glass of Bardolino.

That sucks.

Have an (admittedly rather gloomy) piece of Norway while you wait for your holidays!

I think it's already arrived here :) There's probably a bit leftover for wellinghall although I need as much of today's "local summer" to myself to mitigate the internal gloom.

Have a sunbeam wellinghall. Just one, mind.

And just accept that not everyone is remotely perfect (including you) and cannot be expected to be so, whilepeople/companies are permanently & unacceptably crap and the only 2 things you can do about them are a. cut them out (as much as possible) and those you can't cut out, just say "la la la whatever" either to them or just yourself, and don't bother getting worked up.

Easier said than done but at least try, eh?

I meant *some* people/companies. I don't think *all* people/companies are crap, far from it. And now that I've given you a sunbeam, all the rest have gone in and it is threatening to rain :(

You have made me feel guilty that I have not yet left feedback for the hedge I bought on Ebay. But I don't see how I can leave meaningful feedback for plants until I know if they are in good condition or not, which with bare root trees you only find out when the buds burst. Hm.

But I guess your complaint is with buyers who bought something that allows more instant assessment.

Date: 2008-04-30 09:59 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wellinghall.livejournal.com
Indeed. It's a book. (Several different books to several different buyers, etc). Has it got all its pages? Is it in the condition I said it was? Did I post it quickly, charge a reasonable amount for postage etc? Then give me a positive, and say something simple like "Book received fine."

Even if they're not happy, I could cope with neutral or negative feedback as long as it was reasonable. (I'd rather they contacted me first, mind you, to give me a chance to make redress).

But I've got feedback outstanding with several people!

Sorry, rant over. And I do understand your position. And the eBayers are just a minor problem, on top of the three much more major ones!

From: [identity profile] didiusjulianus.livejournal.com
I sort of see your point, but do you always reply to everyone all the time in a timely and pleasant manner? (I mean generally, not just on ebay). If not, maybe same problems are experienced by others? Some people just don't go online that often either, and when they do, they have 10 mins before a kid needs feeding, or dog letting out, or MiL ringing, and on and on. One of the reasons I don't like ebay it it's all quick-quick-quick and you get grief if you don't post a cheque for 3 days or leave almost instantaneous feedback or answer a question within about 3 hours. Fine if it has been indicated there is some good reason for hyperspeed on either side, but I find this ridiculous, if I wanted to live in the rat-race I could've and I chose not to! I doubt I am the only one. (Okay I go online a lot, but I'm often BUSY, with something like leaving feedback well down the list of priorities). Other means of buying things don't hassle one that much so why does this one?

The last time I bought something off ebay, which is rare in itself, I forgot due to other things going on in my life. But I didn't leave bad feedback either so that's a neutral position. So does it really matter that much - it just means that you don't up your number of positives? Or, was it Amazon marketplace. Whichever.
