And I know what they're all for. If not all in daily use.

The "other thing" is one of those pound coin shaped tokens you can use in supermarket trolleys, plus it gets me 10% off in a chain of restaurants.

I had lots and lots, but then decluttered them onto a second keyring that I don't carry everywhere.

Specifically, a small torch. Our village has no streetlights.

I also have more keys, but all but the main three got decluttered into the key wallet when I started carrying my keys in a pocket rather than a bag. The other things on my keyring are a lens cleaning cloth from a magazine, a saint's medal which has lost the side that tells you if it's St Christopher or St Anthony of Padua (I used to have one of each), a fish-shaped Turkish "evil eye", and two extra clippy-hooky things which have become detach from whatever they used to connect to the keyrings. The other things also got decluttered into the key wallet, including at least two of those pound coin tokens (one PDSA, one British Library).

There used to be a bullet on my keyring - then there was a small torch. Both fell off. Now there are only keys.

Mind you, my car key also has a fob and a Tesco card.

I have a small torch. I also have my keys spread over three linked keyrings, so I can carry just a particular subset easily (for e.g. if I'm going away I don't want to carry more than just my front door & maybe car key).

Oh yes, I do that. Car key is on a separate thingummy to the other keys, so that if I need to leave car and take a courtesy car I can easily detach it.

I completely messed up filling in that poll... I have six keys on my home keyring (after taking off the keys to Mum and Dad's respective houses) plus a library card, a tesco clubcard and a bottle opener shaped like a lizard...

9 True Keys, One Key Fob for car.
A Nifty Plyers/Screwdiver/Light about the same size as the key fob. Yes, I do mix them up. The tool critter doesn't open the car unfortunately.
A Tinkerbell Key Dangly, that matches my Tinkerbell steering wheel cover. Bought separately, but enjoyed none the less. The Key Dangly shares a ring with the Mythopoeic Society Storage locker lock key. That's how I identify that lock key (as opposed to the several other lock keys on my key set).
And the Unicorn Key Holder which has the clip that lets me clip this whole mess onto my purse.
I make a ton of noise when I let it swing. :)

Other: a very small torch, and one of those key-rings with a code number and a freepost address so that if you lose your keys, they can be posted to your bank got you (I have no idea if this service still exists, though).

I have a key and a fob for my house, and a key and a fob for the car (when it's with me) separately, and another different housekey, currently also separate, and some other bunches of keys for other things/places that I rarely carry around.

Keys for car, other car, house, and work PC.

The other thing is a USB stick for whatever I happen to be working on at the moment (currently notes for two RPGs I'm GMing and a LARP I'm playing, plus some bar admin).

Interesting that two of us have answered zero in the second part of the poll but it doesn't show up on the results. I presume that it wouldn't affect the mean, of course, but surely it would affect the median?

Oops, that was wrong. I meant to say I have 6 keys and zero other things. Lazy brain went for ticky box rather than writing a number...

I have 8 keys, although 1 of those is for a defunct lock (security lock for the building that has been replaced).

Extras: the remote dowhichy for my car, which actually locks & unlocks the doors and trunk and can set off the alarm. I suppose it could be called a "key", but it doesn't turn on the ignition, so I treat it as an "extra". Then I have a metal tag that has a Bible verse on it (Jeremiah 29:11).

It's actually a dual ring, with the car keys being detachable.

As an aside, in our family, we call the detachable type key rings a "Marley". Because my mother would have lots of things on both rings, and sometimes even added a third to them. The reference is of course to Jacob Marley's chain in A Christmas Carol.

In no particular order:
1. Bike lock key.
2. Roof box key.
3. Steering wheel lock key. (Probably time to take that off as we haven't used the steering wheel lock for ages.)
4. Car key
5. Bike trailer padlock key.
6. Key to my parents' house.
7. Patio door key.
8. Left garage door key.
9. Right garage door key.
10. Roof bars key.
11. Key for my drawer at work.
12. Garden gate key.
13. Back door key.
14. Front door key - top lock.
15. Front door key - bottom lock.

And other items:
1. Clubcard fob.
2. Security token.

I used to have a penknife / bottle opener won at a 6th form 'Challenge of Industry' event, which was my pride and joy until it was confiscated at Dulles Airport, Washington DC.

There is something in what you say, but life is unpredictable and I like to be prepared. Also, I am disorganised and one bunch of keys is about as many bunches as I can keep track of!
