Gorgeous.

As always with this type of bookshelf/library based design, I do wonder a little how it will look when every single shelf is full (with a jumble of colours and sizes of books, probably) rather than the tasteful few books and ornaments.

Still, I can see the appeal.

I think it would look absolutely perfect with full shelves as you describe, but I know from experience not everyone would agree!

Ignore those people. If your house had a perpetual motion machine or something that would generate infinite usable energy from sewage, they would probably be against that too. ;-)

All you have to do is shelve your books by spine colour and size ...

Some of us like alphabetical order.

(I did once have an entire shelf of black-spined paperbacks that looked rather cool tho'.)

Our SF and mainstream fiction are largely shelved alphabetically, but nothing else is.

mine are shelved thematically, with some considertaion taken of size and colour within that...
(Well, more or less - they are still in some disarray from a house move a couple of years ago)
